Adrian & Jonathan | Mt. Washington, KY Wedding Photographer

8/29/2014

I feel like I say this all the time..but I'm the very worst blogger. Haha! I never remember to blog anything. So I'm really going to try going forward…maybe I'll actually stick to it this time.

So, with that said, here's Adrian & Jonathan's wedding from LAST YEAR. Basically every post for the next couple weeks will be from last year. Eventually, I'll be all caught up!

Adrian is seriously one of my favorite brides ever! Even though she was a self-proclaimed almost bridezilla. Lol! She's very type-A and I'm very not, but somehow we managed to mesh really well together; that's probably because my best friend is just like her! She's a great person and their wedding was gorgeous.

Greg & Sarah :: Engagement Session - Elizabethtown, KY Engagement Photographer

3/20/2014

I met Greg & Sarah at My Old Kentucky Home for their Engagement Session. If you read my blog, you know that I really love shooting there! These two are fun to be around..they're what you would call good people :) I love that Greg brought his cowboy hat and Sarah wore her boots! It was a great session!

Dray & Jessica :: Wedding {Irvington, KY Wedding Photographer}

3/07/2014

Dray & Jessica had a gorgeous ceremony and reception at Dray's parents house in Irvington, KY. It rained ALL morning long and after determining that "the backup" plan would inevitably have to be put in place, just 15 minutes prior to the ceremony, the skies cleared and they were able to have the wedding they had envisioned for so long.

But, even though it quit raining, there wasn't a dry eye in attendance that day. They have a remarkable love story which truly proves that having plenty of perserverence and faith does pay off.  Jessica Ryan (who second shot for me that day) and I were incredibly honored and humbled to have been a part of their very special day.

The BEST Swiss Chard Recipe ever!

3/03/2014

Have you ever tried Swiss Chard? I never had until last year when my husband and I went to a little restaurant in Louisville, KY called Bourbon's Bistro. I ordered the striped bass with swiss chard and it was one of the best dishes I had ever eaten in my life. I was determined to figure out how to make it and after a few tries, I think I've perfected the recipe...it may not be the original one I had, but it's SOOOOOO so good! If you like collard greens, you'll love this.

I made a huge batch yesterday after finding a small local store that sells mostly organic produce and meats and a ton of other health food items. It's called Bulk Foods & More, if you live here in Hardin County. I picked up three bunches of very fresh and organic Swiss Chard (which, as far as I can tell is the same thing as rainbow chard, in case that's all you can find, only that's more colorful..I could be wrong, so feel free to correct me on that one) for $1.25/each!! I had been paying over $3 a bunch at Kroger and they were always wilted.

So here's my recipe with the only two pictures I thought to take when I made it last night:

I use an OXO salad spinner to clean the leaves
mmm!!
The Best Swiss Chard recipe ever!

2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon lemon juice
½ tablespoon garlic powder
½ tablespoon onion powder
½ teaspoon seasoning salt
½ teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon pepper

Directions:
1.     Separate leaves from stalks, rinse both. Chop up stalks and rough chop leaves.
2.     Place large pan over medium heat Add chopped bacon to large pan. Once crispy, remove from pan. DO NOT drain bacon fat.
3.     Add butter to bacon fat, add onion and garlic until cooked through.
4.     Add chicken broth, tomato paste, lemon juice and seasonings.
5.     Add leaves and stalks pan. Stir together. Put lid on pan, reduce heat to medium low.
6.     Add the bacon and mix together, keep on low heat until ready to serve.

Enjoy!!

Kelly & Chris :: Maternity {Elizabethtown, KY Maternity Photographer}

I love maternity shoots! And these two people are some of my favorite clients ever. Kelly & Chris invited me in to their home to capture her gorgeous baby belly and we had a pretty relaxed time since we didn't have to worry about going anywhere else! I brought some extra lighting and used a lot of window light and we created some beautiful pictures for them to always look back and remember what being pregnant looked like on them :)
